Geese are back.

Each run I try to find something to cherish and enjoy.

Be it a nice good morning from someone passing along the way or two birds crossing my path.
Spring is almost here and Today was the last snow fall. (or till we get that dump in June)
This week I didn't keep up with my training so bust with school. I only went hiking around Nose Hill Park on tuesday, but I had wine that day.
Then Saturday came. 15K!!! not easy but not hard. Yeah 6 more to go then I'm at my goal.
I sent out some emails telling people about running this distance having never done it. Then I was tidal waved with donations. 845 dollars in the last 24 hours. YEAHHHHH!!!! In total I'm at 1645. only 3255 to go!!!. Give me another YEAHHHH!!!!!
This week I have to find balance and get to my cross training,

The Best!!!

Today was the best 10K of my life.
(Not time wise but the experience)

It started one of those mornings where you should have prepared the night before. Couldn't find my shoes, my head phones, my jacket. The sun was out. The route changed so we ran up 10th to Crescent hill road and along the today looking down at Calgary. So beautiful. My camera phone didn't make the trip with me. Sorry for not getting a photo.

Low turn out for the GTS, with it being Easter weekend. All good. Tracy and I ran and laughed just enjoyed the morning. When it was over I had to ask if I had just run 10K. Tracy just makes my day. I look over at her and smile. Then we laugh. Hopefully I will be as hot and fit a mama when I'm 37. (14 years to work on it)

Next Saturday 16K. YEAH!!!! Getting ready for it.

Now I just have to figure what to do with the rest of my day,

Six Hills.

This is the hill I train on.

This is me after running up that hill 6 times.

So Hard!
I almost quit at 5.
They say running is all mental.
Then why does it hurt physically?

61:08

My 10K race. This photo is from the start. The timer went off and I wasn't ready. I-pod not going my own timer not going then my gloves. The pace was steady. 32 minutes out and 29 minutes back. Good for training...I just have run 10K's under an hour. The conditions were challenging. Almost slipped and fell on ice twice. Improvement Improvement.
This is Kyria. She did her personal best of 62:38. Great job!!! I was first to join the University running club and after bumping into her in the halls convinced her to do the same. In total there was 7 of us running. The season is over and I will miss this weekly runs.
After the Race Yiougous (who came in at 44 Minutes) Kyria and Myslef went to Avenue. We were placed next to the door. We managed by grabbing some of their blankets and snuggling through the breakfast. YUM!!!
A very good running day.
(now if I could have a very good school day)

Tuesday~Running with the university run club. Long and with one major hill to run up. The guys on this team are Atheleates...Mathew John on the other hand is an athleate. It is good to have people push you.

Thursday~ Hill Training. Along memorial next to the curling club is the hill I run up. This week 4.5 times. It is easier than I thought orignally it would be.
Tommorow~ 10K Race.

Lately.

Wow 10 days has past fast. Where did March go?
For training since I last blogged. I have gone to 2 yoga classes.
On Saturday i ran my longest distance 12K. At 21 I will be laughing that 12 was so hard. Just trying to get over my race mentality I have to race myself against someone. It must come for training for the 5K races and 10K races of my past. Before I wanted to do this Half Marathon under 2 hours. Now I just want to run a great feeling race with a solid pace.

With the runs getting longer my i-pod is becoming more like water. Good solid Music to push me through it.

Today I went and ran with my University run club. They are all about time. I felt behind and pushed the whole time. This could be good but also maxing me out.

My best friend Carolyn came out to run with me on Saturday. This made the world to share it with her. She might even sign up and start training a full marathon. Hope she does it. She is always kicking my butt.

This week just working on eating better. I can notice the difference if not eating the meat and veggies. I love my carbs. It is hard but needed.

This Saturday I have a small run because on Sunday I run a 10K race. I haven't run one since November. My last time was just under an hour. I wonder if I will be at a better pace or worse. I don't care but wonder.

Cheers,
Mathew

One Hour-Six Minutes.

The photo was taken during this morning run. The geese were out and in flight. I was staring up at the sky. Trying not to slip on the icey path.

10K. After my new shoes have reduced me to hobbling around town for the last 2 weeks, with a sore left ankle. I left them behind and grabbed my old woren down shoes. Much better. Memories fill these shoes where the support has been woren down.

6 Celcius. Normally the morning drive to the Group Training Session is all gray and hazy then it clears and there is wonderful sun. Not today. In the last 2K I was colder then when I started. Luckly the run through the valley protected from the harsh wind.

Coffee afterwards. The barista made a wonderful design on my latte. Made my day. Steph my run coach looked at my ankle. It's not a strain but a pressure point. Advised me to take my new shoes in and have them stretched. The flat feet have been passed down from my Dad so I also bought some new insoles for arch support. Hopefully these new stretched shoes will work since I coughed up 140 for them.

I feel wonderful. The last 10K GTS ruined me. This time, I took my pace behind Tracy and Toni watching their ponytails swing in unison. At 8K I was ready to give it and pick up my pace. Normally I'm dead and burn out by 9K. Not today, I had to hold back from sprinting to the end. I guess I have done too many races It's hard to get that mentallty out of my mind.

Off to clean my room and move my bed,
Mathew John
